We exist in an imperfect community and yet we are still expecting that everything should be ideal: our homes, the gardens and ourselves. Of course, there is not anything incorrect to try the best in what you do, but trying to achieve quality over the top can drawn an amount of emotional, physical and relationship troubles- says the Association of Stress Management.
The Association identifies three types of examples of perfectionists and their downsides:
The first group includes the people who are always smarty dressed, reliable and efficient. They try to work their tasks as best as they can. They are intelligent, well educated and express themselves clearly all the time. All the work that leaves their desk is 100% perfectly done. What could be better than this person working in your company?
Well, according to management specialist Jones, this kind of worker can be bad news for the company. His explanation is that business is race against the competition and speed is everything.
Perfectionists take longer time over their work and can delay things too much. If workers were obsessed with doing things perfectly they may never completed the task in time.
People who are a part of the second group keep their home in perfect order and usually make an enormous effort to keep themselves fit and fashionable. They are always busy with self improving. They want to be admired by everyone who knows them. But according to some researches the reality is that their partner is probably wishing to live with someone who is more relaxed and would let them put their feet on the sofa in the evening.
In the third example, there are people who habitually start their day early in the morning, have enough time to place themselves in the beautiful hygienic kitchen and set up some tasty snack. Cooking for them is simple and entertaining, same as in the cooking games. And this is not all. When they are done with this, they go to their full time jobs. If you know anyone alike, then you will perceive they smile more frequently then most people do. They don t seem to be anxious at all. After all, they take part as an active member of Parent Teacher Association in order to have larger control over their kid s activities.
But, according to the experts of parent support, they are not the perfect parents they believe they are. Their attitude is that in the parenting practice there is no position for perfection. That makes the things worst. It brings too much pressure on the entire family making them feeling bad as they are no good. We all have subjects and areas where we are no good at all.
The problem with perfectionists is that it s very difficult to calm down when you are surrounded with them. Even though we give a standing ovation for perfectionism in sport and scientists, in everyday life things are different. The most of the people don t actually respect perfectionism all the time in all areas. Human life with all imperfections is much more attractive. So, I think it s time to take the things a little bit easier for your own good and everyone else s.
Remember, being perfect is not a positive thing all the time.
